As a 5-year old, I played with rollie pollies and ran around barefoot with the bees. During this time, I grew a deep love for our Earth, volunteering at a community garden everyday. Being in nature always made me feel happy and at peace.

One day when I was hiking, I came across a bird nest tangled in plastic. Birds are now using our trash to build their nests. This is dangerous because baby birds can get trapped and tangled in the plastic. Millions of animals die every year from plastic waste and it is predicted that there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean by 2050. If we don’t do anything about plastic waste, our animals and Earth will only continue to suffer.

 

This is why Wiah was started – to help restore our wildlife and eradicate plastic. After hundreds of conversations with local community members in San Diego, we’ve built a company that pulls together the ideas and voices of many people. Earth belongs to all of us and together we can create a world where our wildlife can not only survive, but thrive.
